Kris, 72

“I worry about what will happen to me as I get older. When I lost my partner of 31 years to cancer I had no one I could talk to. Everyone at the grief groups I found were straight … I was so uncomfortable, I went once and never went back.”

Jerran, 19

“If you want kids to stay here in Nebraska, we need somewhere to go that’s not a bar. And something to do that’s not thinking about going to a bar. Gay bars can’t be our only source of community, or we’ll leave the first chance we get.”

Sammy, 39

“It’s just not the same if a program or service is built to serve someone else then suddenly opened to LGBTQ+ people. We deserve people trained, places built, and things designed for us - just like anyone else.”

“The place in which I’ll fit will not exist until I make it.”
